She tells him she's left Steve. She didn't fit in in America. He makes her admit that Steve wasn't the perfect husband but was a swine. She tells him they had nothing in common and nothing to talk about. Steve was posted to South America - he volunteered and didn't want Elsie to go with him. She tells Len that Steve had told her he was sorry he'd married her. She doesn't know what's going to happen to her.
